Our late father Emmett Morgan, Sr., took all his children to the racetrack. We can say we grew up hanging out with our father at his favorite past time. Our late brother EJ and his late son Erin were players, too. The Morgan Men and Tada grew up at Santa Anita, Hollywood Park and Del Mar racetracks.
During the COVID pandemic in 2020, with more free time and a desire to see each other virtually we decided to create a horseracing handicapping podcast. Every week we get to meet, including our mother who joins in the beginning of our weekly meeting and the Saturday Podcast.
Each of the Morgan men have a cooking nickname. Not only are they good cooks, they also are great handicappers, cooking up winners. Cookem Up!
Who knew that I would become one of the top authorities on thoroughbred horse racing. Maybe my Dad, Emmett James Morgan, Sr. He taught all of his kids how to read the racing form before they hit their teens, and I’m no exception.
Emmett Sr. was a great handicapper and I remember when I was a kid we would go out to eat Chinese food whenever he had a big win and I must say we ate a lot of Chinese.
Over the past 40 years, my brothers, sister and I have experienced our ups in downs in this arena but here we are as full adults podcasting horseracing events and handicapping together once again.
My favorite race track to handicap was Hollywood Park. It is now closed and the site of the SoFi Stadium. Go Rams! Today I love to handicap races at all racetracks, especially the ones on the West Coast.
My favorite part of handicapping is paying extreme attention to horse breeding. I favor "Uncle Mo", "Square Eddie" and "Into Mischief" bred horses in California racing. But the list is much deeper and I look forward to sharing my knowledge and expertise with you.
My horseracing foundation was started around 40 years ago by my father Emmett Morgan, Sr. He was a winning handicapper who taught his children the ropes in horseracing at an early age.
In my years of picking winners I have won an abundance of Pick 6's along with horseracing wagers of all kinds.
It's my intention to continue winning and helping others do the same. So don't miss out on my "Hotplate Specials" They are extremely high percentage plays!"
I am the only girl of a family of boys. And yes I am one of the analysist, and I provide racing history and fun facts.
I, too, grew up at the racetrack . It was a special time to spend with my father and brothers. Our mother rarely came. So it was Dad and the kids.
I have always loved horses. As an adult, I appreciate the strength and courage of jockeys and thoroughbreds. I love watching these amazing athletes perform.
To be honest, horseracing is thrilling to me. Analyzing a horse, jockey and trainer's past performance is so much fun! Especially when I pick and play the winning team. COOKEMUP!"
They call me the Pick 6 Specialist. I am the youngest member of the family and I too, spent many days at the racetrack with our father. He taught me how to read the Daily Racing Forum at an early age. He was a teacher in the classroom and at the racetrack, and an excellent teacher at that.
My expertise in handicapping relies on recognizing the fitness of the horse and how it stacks up to the rest of the field. Analyzing the races has always been fun but analyzing races as a family and our Podcast, I am over the moon.
